It&#8217;s a fixed string of 16 letters and numbers generated from your name, date and place of birth. You&#8217;ll need it to sign the compromesso, sign the rogito, open an Italian bank account, and set up utilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to get one.<\/strong> Two options: request it from the Italian consulate with jurisdiction over where you live in the US (by mail or in person, depending on the consulate), or request it in person at a local Agenzia delle Entrate office once you&#8217;re in Italy. Either way, it&#8217;s free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What you&#8217;ll need.<\/strong> A valid passport and a completed application form (modello AA4\/8).
